Desiring God

Desiring God- by John Piper

I was super excited to be able to review this book when I saw that www.waterbrookmultnomah.com/bloggingforbooks had it listed! I absolutely love John Piper. I've read a few of his books and listened to many of his sermons via podcast, and have made it to the cities a few times to attend some of Piper's services at Bethleham Baptist. Anyway, previous to Desiring God, i've read Piper's condensed version "The Dangerous Duty of Delight." If I could just post that as my review that'd be great. It basically sums up Desiring God. In Desiring God, Piper really tries to get people to understand that God is most magnified in us when we are most satisfied in Him. We are called to be delighted, it is actually more than just being called, it's our duty according to Piper. Pursuing joy is actually glorifying God, and Piper really lays it out in his book on how to pursue joy in every aspect of your life. Piper also tells you to approach God with the hedonists abandon. Again, I really love how passionate and how in-depth Piper gets in his books. It definitely moves you and stirs something in your life. This is a book you won't want to put down and this is a book that will definitely shake you to your core if you allow it to.

I received this book for free for this review from waterbrook multnomah.
